Agricola of Chalon

In 532, Saint Agricola, son of a Gallo-Roman senator, was consecrated bishop of Chalon-sur-Saône. His friend, Saint Gregory of Tours, wrote that Agricola lived a simple, austere life devoted to promoting the spiritual good of his people, and in the 48 years of his episcopacy attended several Church councils and enlarged and beautified many of the churches of his diocese
