SAINT BRIGID

St. Brigid

Feast day: February 1
Died: 9th century

The sister of Saint Andrew of Fiesole. It is said that she was carried by angeles to her brother's deathbed. She died as a recluse in the Apennines. Most modern writers discard all this as pure fiction (Benedictines). Saint Brigid is pictured being carried by angels, sometimes with an onion in her hand, or she may be painted with her brother, Saint Andrew (Roeder). She is venerated at Fiesole (S. Donatus), Setignano, Italy. Brigid died after a life of seclusion in the Apennines.
